Somni is Leo Shulman, a UK born, LA based producer, singer/songwriter, and multi- instrumentalist. With a wide range of influences spanning from Elliott Smith to Flying Lotus, Somni’s music generally toes the line between lo-fi indie, experimental hip-hop, and ambient electronic. With support and features from Pigeons and Planes, Mixmag, NPR, Electronic Sound, Bandcamp Daily and more, Somni continues to push boundaries with a distinctive, genre-bending sound.

The Cost Of Living is a raw, songwriting-driven album from Somni that moves away from the electronic textures of his past work toward something more intimate and unpolished. Written over the course of a year marked by sustained loss and grief, the record became a means of processing those experiences in real time. Many of the songs were created simply to endure the moment, and in that sense, they have already served their purpose - for Somni, and for the loved ones who were navigating similar waves of grief. While loss shapes much of the album, moments of warmth, love, and quiet hope still break through.
